The Conversations Around Responsible Innovation Are Growing Louder

From Healthcare to Homeland Security: A Nurse’s Perspective on Secure AI Adoption

As a nurse who’s spent years at the bedside and now leads a tech-forward solutions firm, I’ve always believed that systems whether in healthcare or national security should protect people first. That belief is why I care deeply about the intersection of innovation, ethics, and impact.

In the June 2025 issue of SIGNAL Magazine, I had the opportunity to explore this in depth through my article, Decentralized Defense: How Federated Learning Strengthens U.S. AI. It’s a timely conversation about how we can build AI systems that are both powerful and privacy-conscious especially in high-stakes environments like defense, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.

Magazine cover titled "SIGNAL" features glowing DNA, soldier's hand, and text "BIOTECHNOLOGY: RISE OF A NEW AGE" over a green and earthy backdrop.

“In regulated environments, data is often locked away but insight doesn’t have to be.”

~ From my article in SIGNAL Magazine, June 2025

Working in tech as a nurse might sound unexpected, but it’s personal. I’ve seen what happens when systems fail the human cost is never just data. That’s why I’m committed to helping organizations adopt technologies like federated learning that allow us to collaborate across silos without compromising security or trust.
